Colorado Private Investigator Licensing moves closer to becoming reality

~PPIAC (Professional Private Investigators Association of Colorado)

Steve Davis, President of PPIAC reports that SB14-133, Mandatory Regulation of Private Investigators in Colorado, continues to move forward and is closer to becoming reality in one of the few states with no PI regulations. The PPIAC applauds Senator Linda Newell, the bills sponsor, for her interest in the industry and keeping the interests of the professional investigators, small businesses and stakeholders in mind. PPIAC Chairman Chris Bray says the bill will ensure PI’s in Colorado undergo a background check, pass a jurisprudence exam and maintain some form of liability insurance – while keeping licensing fees to practitioners reasonable.

Protect Consumers from unscrupulous individuals

Have no barriers for new PI’s to come into the profession

Require Private Investigators to pass a CBI & FBI background check

Require PI’s to pass a jurisprudence examination to make sure they understand the laws governing the profession

Be affordable to all Colorado investigators and firms
